2 Concentration Questions
The central idea of my concentration is people and their surroundings. I want the people to bring a sense of life into the photo. I want the backgrounds to be interesting, but not distracting. My goal is that the people convey the central tone/mood of the piece.
My work in my concentration demonstrates the exploration of my idea because I hope to photograph a plethora of people. I want to do more candid photos because there is more life in those photos than staged photos. That is not to say that I couldn’t explore adding more depth into my staged photos. This is because when I have done staged photos in the past, but I have focuses more on the beauty of the person rather than the artistic depth of the piece. So, if I were to explore staged photos that would be my goal. For example, in my picture of ML the lighting and the background are very interesting, yet the photo still highlights her beauty. I hope to capture a whole range of emotions, despite the fact that I am typically drawn to photograph the joy and laughter of people. For example, the pictures of the children at the fountain, really capture a childish happiness. I think that is because I think capturing joy within a photo can really move people. I am not glad to capture the more sad emotions, but I am interested in seeing where I find them. I want to focus on having a variety of locations in which I find people, I think that will make my photos more interesting, but it will also allow for me to find different types of people. I think it will also be interesting to explore ethnicity, possibly my work could have undertones of culture to them. I really hope I can add an element of story telling within my photos.
